Small Animal Research
The UltraVision can be supplied with 15 and 25 MHz transducers for research use on small animals where the serial staging of the disease in some cases allows less animals to be sacrificed in the study.
The 15 MHz is a standard PZT transducer with a frequency range form 12 to 17 MHz and a general purpose tool with an active aperture of 12.8 mm and an evaluational aperture of 1.5 mm and a evaluational focus of 8 mm.
The 25 MHz is a single crystal ultra-wide frequency transducer that can be operated from 12 to 28 MHz and a premium tool with an active aperture of 12.8 mm and an evaluational aperture of 1.5 mm and a evaluational focus of 8 mm.
A system where an anesthetized mouse is placed in a rack, that is then placed in water bath and scanned through a window in a wall of the bath by a motorized transducer holder has been developed. The rack immobilizes the mouse so its nose is kept above the water line.
A set of racks from 8 grams to 36 grams, with supportive acoustically clear gel that comfortably hold the mouse are available.
First the mouse is anesthetized and placed in the open rack which is closed to secure the mouse and an hood is placed on the rack to keep the mouse under sedation.
The mouse and rack is then place in a warmed water bath in the scanning apparatus.
The scanning device is an elevator that supports several types of transducers and connects to the UltraVision which controls its motion.
The transducer is coupled to the window with gel and the UltraVision can collect frames from the feet to the neck and render a 3D scan.
We are waiting for a partner to express interest before we complete the project.
